Hello, stranger

If you've been following my blog for the past few months, you may have assumed I've pulled the plug on this blogging thing and discretely disappeared into an unstylish oblivion. Well, I'm still here.

Niamh Etc's been thrown to the back burner a bit and this time, I don't really have an excuse. Yep, it'd be so easy to list off how busy I am with uni/work/social life etc., but that gets tedious. I've let my abundance of iPhone snaps above do the talking on that one. When it comes to my consistent blogger skills, or lack thereof (LOL), I need a slap on the wrist basically.

Since I've been MIA on the blogosphere, quite a lot has been going on. Isabel Marant has gone and released her fab collection for H&M, cycle 20 of ANTM is over (sob) and Kimye has continued to bring shock value. Anyone else's jaws hit the floor watching Kanye's new Bound 2 vid with Kim K? I was mind blown/disturbed/confused all at the same time.

Hope you're all doing well and hopefully I'll be chatting all things style/superficial next time.

Too pure to be pink

The motto I've adopted for my A/W winter wardrobe this year will be "Think Pink". Gone are the days of Mean Girls restricting themselves to only wearing pink on Wednesdays. The ladylike hue is set to be one of the biggest (and my personal fave) trend of this Autumn/Winter '13. Pink lovers can rejoice as the trend has creeped its way into highstreet hotspots Topshop, Penneys & ASOS, to name but a few with the colour making quite the impression on the catwalks of Mulberry, Carven & Topshop Unique this year. My childhood dream to overdose in head-to-toe pink like Rizzo & the gang (...the Pink Ladies from Grease, for those who have been living under a rock) is now acceptable in the ~fashion world~. Happy? Indeed.

These are just a handful of my top picks that demonstrate the trend perfectly, and you may notice are predominantly from Topshop, who are absolutely acing it atm but unfortunately draining my bank account. My fave piece is the pale pink vinyl pencil skirt. I actually have it and oh my god, did it take what feels like forever to get my hands on this coveted gem. I wore it to my 21st birthday last week and being honest I felt like I was transported back into the sixties in this sweet baby pink number. It certainly gave my outfit a unique but girly twist and the hurdle to get it was certainly worth it.

The great thing about this trend is there are so many different shades of pink from pale, dusky pinks to bold, bubblegum pinks. On top of that there is an abundance of textures you can mix and match like fur, vinyl, knit, jersey etc etc.

We're spoilt for choice with this trend and I am definitely gonna be lapping it up this autumn/winter.

What pink pieces are you lusting after?

Weekend Wishing #3

Weekend Wishing #3

OH, HEY STRANGERS! Sorry, guys. I've been swamped in work over the past two weeks but I finally have found the time to put some of my focus on Niamh Etc. About time, I know.

So without further-ado, this is the 3rd instalment of my 'Weekend Wishing' series. This time, however, I've added in a hairstyle I've really been loving atm. Following my shock horror over Bey's new pixie cut (NOOO), I'm even more into long locks. The ~Del Rey~ I guess you could call it! Who could say no to big, voluminous 60s inspired hair? NOBODY.

The main item I've been lusting after for what seems like 568678598 years (3 months actually)is this gorgeous heavily embellished top from ASOS. The main word that comes to mind when I see it is glam. Pair this with some vintage Levi denim shorts and you get the epitome of laid-back chic glamour.

I'm really loving the white Lulu Guinness inspired lips clutch from Nastygal. It would definitely add a bit of quirkiness to any outfit whether dressed up or casual which is always a plus!

If you've been a reader of mine over the past 2 months you would probably know that I'm a major fan of court heels. They give any outfit a sophisticated look. I consider them a wardrobe stable.

A nice touch of OPI Chic From Ears To Tail nail polish adds a bit of girliness to any look and this bubblegum pink shade is perfect for the last few weeks of summer that we have left.

Again a handful of midi rings sets off the look. I already have a few midi rings at the mo but I'd love to add the dainty pieces, á la the initial ring from Topshop, to my collection.

And I am still on the hunt for finding the perfect nudey pink lipstick. All suggestions are welcome!

Hope you like all of the stuff on this weekend's wishlist. I shall be back in full blogging swing next week with some outfit posts and maybe a few reviews, who knows?!

Clichés Clichés Clichés

       Dress - Topshop

Long time no blog! I think it's been just over a week since I last posted something on here. Bad blogger. So seeing as I've a day off work i.e. a v. rare occasion,  I decided to throw up my outfit of the day.

I know what you're probably thinking.. Niamh has managed to jump on yet another fashion bandwagon - The infamous 'Homiés' jumper.  Most celebs, bloggers etc. you see wearing this have the Brian Lichtenberg one but I opted for the cheaper but just as fab Reason version - just so my bank account wouldn't hate me tbh.

I wore my beloved Topshop acid leaf cutout dress underneath to add a hint of girliness and a pop of colour to the ~tough~ vibe of the jumper. I am loving jumper and dress combos atm - I think they're the perfect way to dress down an outfit without being too casual. It also gives you the perfect excuse to clash prints and colours. SOLANGE KNOWLES, EAT YOUR HEART OUT. I gave jewellery a miss for this look because I just wanted the jumper and dress to do the talking, mainly. But as you all probably know by now, I never say no to a chunky gold chain. It probably would look quite good with the look, glamming it up a bit which is always a plus in my books!

Weekend Wishing #2

Weekend Wishing #2

So I'm back again with the second post in my "Weekend Wishing" series. And yep, I know it's Sunday night and there's only a few hours left of the weekend but it still counts, doesn't it? Perfect!

Anyway, these lovely things are what I've been eyeballing over the past week. If you can't already tell by now, I have expensive taste but hey, a girl can dream.. First up, this white Zara jumper would look perfect paired with essentially anything, you name it - jeans, skirts, shorts etc etc. Again it's white - something I am loving at the mo but the slouchiness is what I really love as it'd give a nice effortlessly put together look while still gaining points in the style books. White is hot property right now people!

The light dusty pink shorts are fab for summer and would transform most outfits from day to night. The shape and cut of these shorts would flatter even the Kim K derrieres out there.

Now these wedges are what I'd describe as nothing short of fierce. They nail the whole monochrome trend with the black and white stripes on the wedge and the platform is so high you can actually walk around and feel comfortable in - HAPPY DAYS!

I've spotted Klear Klutches and variations of the clear bag absolutely everywhere on the internet. It seems as if they have become almost like an 'IT Bag'. I love how they look so simple but add a unique edge to any ensemble and I have to say I am dying to get my paws on one of these bad boys. Although, I'll have to bare in mind what exactly I put into the clutch seeing as it is see-through and all that...

These gold coin earrings from ASOS are gorgeous and I thing would look lovely with your hair tied up in a top knot to really showcase them. Gold jewellery is my weakness.

As you can probably tell from the lovely picture of the lips up there, I have been loving hot pink/fuschia lips. Being a girl who always opts for the more muted pink/nude tone lipsticks, I'm a little bit of a chicken when it comes to trying bold colours. I've been eyeing up MAC's Girl About Town so I might just bite the bullet. Do you guys have any other suggestions on bold lip colours?

And last but not least I have been depriving myself of my fav ever Caramel Frappuccino from Starbucks. The torture. Now to be clear, I do not condone self inflicted deprivation or anything of the sort but I decided a couple months ago to steer clear of the caramel filled goodness because I found out how many calories were in them. Heartbroken. I'll stick to my non fat macchiato for now!

What's on your weekend wishlist?

Working at the pyramid tonight

So last night I went to The Killers gig with my boyfriend. I have to say, even though I'm not a major fan of The Killers, I had an absolute ball. Brandon Flowers and co. were supported by HAIM, Two Door Cinema Club and Frank Ocean - my fave of the night. It was a scorcher of a day and having that in combo with good music, drinks and atmosphere, what could possibly go wrong? Nada.

With it being an outdoor concert, festival fashion was in full swing. And believe me when I say, I saw the good, the bad and the ugly (ridiculously tiny daisy dukes, I'm looking at you!).

So this is what I wore! Excuse my sour face in these pics.. The sun was in my eyes. I don't look this mean all the time, I swear! I decided to make the most of the festival look by jumping on the flower crown bandwagon. Mine is from ASOS and being honest, I did get quite a few looks when I was leaving my house but once in the venue, I didn't care! I wore an oversized baby pink tee from Topshop which was perfect for the laid-back look I was going for. I wore it over one of my staple pieces i.e. a plain black skater skirt from River Island. My trusty chunky gold chain had to make an appearance, obvs. And then I added a bit of an edge to the girly look by wearing a pair of black ankle boots from H&M, which I have to add were perfect for jumping around to Mr. Brightside - no sore feet yay!

Frank Ocean fangirling at its finest.

How was your weekend?

Weekend Wishing

Weekend Wishing #1

1,2345678, 9

Being a broke student with expensive taste can be annoying as hell but with payday coming around next week for me (THANK GOD), I thought I'd share my wishlist of all the things I've wanted all month but didn't have quite enough $$$ to splurge!

1* I saw this pink textured tee in Topshop the other day and I immediately wanted to try it on. Yes, I know it looks kinda bland and boring on screen but in person it is really pretty. Along with its 60s vibe, I think what I like most about it is its colour. A girl can never have too much pink, right?

2* So who hasn't seen this Zara skort on a handful of blogs recently? Almost nobody? Thought so. This skort is just gorgeous and ideal for the summer, espesh in white - my fave.

3* In my last post, you would have seen that I'm quite the fan girl for pointed courts. These studded mint green pair from River Island are right on trend at the moment and will virtually go with anything, adding a nice pop of pretty pastel-filled colour. Lovely.

4* This clutch is on sale in Zara right now so I'm hoping there'll be one waiting for me in my local one next time I'm in. The tiger print is what caught my eye and it's a nice change from the standard leopard print found on most things as well.

5* A chunky gold chain has quickly become one of my wardrobe essentials this year and this XL version from ASOS will be mine! I've been coming back to it every time I'm on the site so I think now might be a good time to bite the bullet and get it. I've recently been layering up my dainty and chunky gold chains (2 Chainz, eat your heart out), but this extra large chain will be just enough on its own to make a bold statement.

6* I've been loving wearing midi rings this year as well. This finger candy is subtle but chic at the same time. Can't go wrong!

7* Basically I want a YSL Rouge Volupté lipstick for the packaging alone! Being the notorious hoarder that I am, I'd quite like a whole collection of them. But speaking in practical terms, one in Nude Beige would do the job. This colour would go with most complexions and is right up my street tbh.

8* The Revlon nail polish in Posh seems like the perfect shade for summer. It's bright and catches the eye. I like clashing my nails with my outfits (wild, I know).

9* And finally, I am dying to download Kanye West's newest album Yeezus. I've already heard a few of the tracks on Spotify and after a few listens, I've really grown to like it. My fave songs from the album are New Slaves, Black Skinhead and Blood On The Leaves. Yes, some people love him, some hate him but I have to say I'm a massive fan of North West's dad. That name still makes me lol.

Have a good weekend.

Tuesday Shoesday

Today I'm going to do a post on all of the shoes I've been drooling over for the past week - basically shoes I can't afford but wish I had. I've always thought good shoes are so important. They're essential in completing your overall look and there's no doubt that a fab pair of heels can make you feel that extra bit better about yourself and of course, bring out your inner Carrie Bradshaw (well, we can dream).

OMG, shoes.

ZARA Ankle Strap Sandals

This pair of ZARA strap heels are the epitome of simple and chic. They are perfect for the all white everything trend if worn with a white only outfit. Or you could pair these with black skinny jeans, an oversized shirt or tee and statement necklace for a laid-back yet stylish monochrome going out look. Sorted!

Office Green Print Satin Wedges

These babies are amazing! Can you picture the likes of Katy Perry wearing these?.. 'Cause I can! The quirky clashing prints and colours drew me to these wedges when I was scrolling through Office's website. They have a 16cm heel (yes, I know) but the platform is 7cm so it makes it that lil bit easier for you to totter around in. ~The higher the heel, the closer to heaven, after all.~ You could continue on the colour block/ pattern clash look of the shoes with your outfit to add a bit of kookiness or you could let the shoes do most of the talking and go for a simple all black outfit.  Either way, you are bound to get heads turning.

Topshop Pointed Courts

And last but not least, these hot pink suede court shoes are somewhat of a classic. Pointed courts are making a comeback and are definitely having a fashion moment this summer. What I love about these shoes is that they go with practically everything - whether it's a pair of boyfriend/skinny jeans, a skater skirt or pencil dress. The hot pink colour of these are sure to inject a bit of colour and life into any plain outfit. Pop these on with whatever you're wearing and you're ready to go!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my fave shoes of the moment. I might make "Tuesday Shoesday" a weekly thing because as you can probably tell, shoes make me happy.

Hi, I'm Niamh

So I've finally decided to properly set up my own blog. Fashion is always on my brain - whether it's online window shopping, getting sucked into the latest trends and fashion mags or living vicariously through the eyes of the likes of glam people à la Beyoncé and co. I feel now's a good time for me to share my opinions and ideas on style/beauty etc. to the world. Hello, world.

I've been inspired by so many interesting blogs recently and seeing as I'm going into my final year of studying journalism, why not? ~ Yolo and all that ~

SO... here goes nothing. This is my blog, welcome!
